Onyinyechi Basil Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025

Saturday night sparkled with glamour at the Balmoral Event Centre, Lagos, as Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025. The 25-year-old beauty queen succeeds Chidimma Adetishina and will proudly represent Nigeria at the upcoming Miss Universe competition.

Her victory came after an intense contest featuring 22 contestants who competed in the swimsuit, evening gown, and Q&A rounds. Basil stood alongside Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, as the last two finalists before being announced the winner to thunderous applause.

The evening also recognized other outstanding contestants:

  • Fortune Kurobo (Bayelsa) – Second Runner-up
  • Irene Ikediashi (Ogun) – Third Place
  • Idah Eno (Akwa Ibom) – Top Five, crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025

Beyond the stage, Onyinyechi Basil has carved an impressive career managing operations across West Africa for a top South Korean conglomerate. She is equally passionate about maternal healthcare advocacy and women’s empowerment, causes she has consistently championed.

In her post-crowning remarks, Basil reaffirmed her vision for the crown:

“I want young girls to know that they can be more, achieve more, and still celebrate their cultural identity.”

As Miss Universe Nigeria 2025, Basil will not only showcase Nigerian culture and elegance on the global stage but also continue using her platform to push for progress in education, women’s rights, and healthcare.
