Coventry City’s poor run of form has dragged them into the EFL Championship relegation zone, making their upcoming clash with Luton Town a must-win fixture.

Manager Mark Robins has achieved remarkable feats with Coventry in recent years, narrowly missing out on the Premier League via the play-off final and coming close to an FA Cup final appearance. However, this season’s start has been a huge disappointment. Instead of fighting for promotion as fans had hoped, the team now sits at the foot of the table after a dreadful stretch of just one win in their last nine matches across all competitions.

Their recent encounter with Queens Park Rangers was a relegation six-pointer, but both teams had to settle for a point. I had backed a half-time draw, only to see it end level at full-time instead.

Luton Town, meanwhile, have also struggled to meet expectations. After suffering relegation from the Premier League, Rob Edwards’ side had targeted an immediate promotion push, but instead find themselves in the lower half of the table. A convincing 3-0 home win over Watford at the weekend suggested a possible turnaround, but that momentum was halted by a 2-1 defeat to league leaders Sunderland on Wednesday. They now sit just two points above the relegation zone.
