In their previous qualifying match, Lesotho suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat away to the Benin Republic. The team struggled to match the hosts’ quality and managed only a single shot on target throughout the game.

This result marked Lesotho’s fourth consecutive loss across all competitions, leaving them at the bottom of Group C, five points behind the leaders. Head coach Leslie Notsi has faced challenges with the team’s attacking prowess, as Lesotho has yet to score in their four group matches.

Nigeria, meanwhile, has experienced a rocky qualifying campaign, securing only two victories from eight games so far. Nevertheless, with South Africa’s points deduction, Eric Chelle’s men remain in contention and are just three points away from the top of the group.
