The Fisherman is a heartwarming Ghanaian fantasy-comedy about Atta Oko, a traditional fisherman who is forced into early retirement. When he loses out on becoming the “boat chief” of his town (a position given to the outgoing chief’s son instead), his life takes a whimsical twist. Atta Oko encounters a wise (but sarcastic) talking fish, who seems to carry a message for him. Together with three youthful associates—Kobina, Shasha, and Emmanuel—he embarks on an adventure that takes them from his fishing village (on the coast of Ghana) to the bustling streets of Accra. Their shared dream: owning their own fishing boat.
