Algeria forward Ibrahim Maza has talked about Riyad Mahrez’s last-minute free-kick against Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Maza recalled the moment before his team’s quarter-final match against the Super Eagles on Saturday.

Maza remembered the famous free-kick from six years back, saying it still makes a big impression on both fans and players.

“I was still pretty young and was watching the game on TV with my family, to be honest.

“It is a legendary goal in Algeria’s history,” he said

That particular goal helped Algeria reach the 2019 final.

The 2019 game was really balanced, with both sides tied at 1-1 as the final whistle was about to sound.

As the game was about to go into extra time, Mahrez scored a free-kick in the 95th minute, hitting the top-left corner of the goal to help Algeria win 2-1 and advance to the final.

That strike has since become one of the most important moments in Algerian football history.
