Ibom Air Passenger, Comfort Emmanson, Discharged by Lagos Court

In a recent development, the Ikeja Magistrateโ€™s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, has discharged Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger previously accused of unruly conduct and assault during a flight.

The case, presided over by Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami on Wednesday, was struck out after the police officially withdrew the charges. Emmanson had been facing a five-count charge that included disrupting peace onboard, assaulting a crew member, and engaging in behavior likely to cause a public disturbance. She had earlier pleaded not guilty during her arraignment.

During the hearing, Police Prosecutor Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court that both the complainant and the airline had decided not to proceed with the case. Acting on instructions from the police authorities, Adeitan formally applied for the case to be withdrawn.

Magistrate Salami granted the request, leading to Emmansonโ€™s discharge. This brings an end to the legal battle that had drawn public attention since the incident occurred aboard the Ibom Air flight.
