A Professor of Political Science at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Jideofor Adibe, has advised Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to exercise caution regarding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) opposition coalition.

Adibe issued the warning amid the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of Nigeria.

Speaking on ‘The Morning Brief’ programme on Channels Television on Tuesday, Adibe said:

“I wouldn’t want to advise Peter Obi; he has his own advisors. Ultimately, he has to make his own decisions, but if I were him, I would be extremely suspicious.”

HYPEBLOG9JATV reports that both the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have already zoned their 2027 presidential tickets to southerners, while the ADC has yet to announce its zoning plan.

Meanwhile, ADC coalition member and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from northern Nigeria has indicated interest in contesting for the presidency in 2027.

Adibe described Obi as a strategist who does not act superficially but always considers a second plan before making decisions.

“It’s up to him to weigh the advice of his political strategists and understand the implications of these moves. I believe that once announcements are made, scenarios will unfold. Over the next few months, it will become clearer what influenced the PDP’s decision to implement zoning,” he added.
