Set in 1980s Ibadan, Farmer’s Bride follows Odun, a successful but lonely farmer who, lacking a companion in his old age, marries a much younger woman named Funmi. Their marriage is not born of love — it is orchestrated by Funmi’s mother and is met with resentment by Funmi, who never had a voice in the decision. As Funmi’s unhappiness grows, she finds solace in the company of Femi, Odun’s nephew. A secret affair ensues, triggering a chain of betrayal, deception, and supernatural forces. As consequences escalate, Funmi is driven to take desperate actions to reclaim control over her life. Medium+5nollypedia.com+5Film One+5

In its final act, Farmer’s Bride transitions from a romance to a tragedy: the lovers’ plot spirals into violence and spiritual retribution. The film probes themes of autonomy, cultural expectations, and the blurred boundaries between duty and desire. Film One+3innollywood.com+3What Kept Me Up+3
