Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured a spot in the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final with a thrilling 2-1 victory over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

The breakthrough came just before halftime, as captain Rasheedat Ajibade confidently converted a penalty in the 45th minute to put Nigeria ahead.

South Africa hit back early in the second half, with Linda Motlhalo leveling the score in the 50th minute.

With both teams pressing for a winner, it was Michelle Alozie who sealed the win for Nigeria in stoppage time, firing home a stunning long-range effort.

The Super Falcons, already nine-time WAFCON champions, remain unbeaten in the tournament and had not conceded a single goal until Motlhalo’s equalizer.
